Some duties of HHAs include preparing meals and feeding, bathing, dressing, checking vital signs, administering medications, and light housekeeping. Duties performed by an HHA will depend on the needs of the client.
This government division oversees home health care agencies – whom hire home health aides to work with their clients/patients. The state of Georgia does not have specific training requirements for HHAs.
However, within the licensure documentation for home health agencies, HHAs should be trained at a minimum in the following:
Methods to assist patients to reach their highest self-reliance
Meal and nutrition preparation, the process of aging
For the state of Georgia, HHAs must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of training in a health care program.
No less than 16 hours of this training must be supervised and within either clinical or practical training.
These persons must continue with another 12 training hours for each 12 month period employed within the field.
Although the state of Georgia does not have specific training requirements, completing a HHA training program certainly improve your chance of gaining employment and being successful.

Covenant CNA School offers a Nursing Assistant Training Program. Students will receive training in various nursing skills to learn the proper techniques to assist patients with activities for daily living as well as taking and noting blood pressure, pulse rate, and temperature.
Included in the program is a clinical rotation at a long-term care facility.
Students who successfully completes the program may take the Georgia state exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
